Mayor Rex Parris Endorses Tom Lackey for Assembly
Palmdale, CA— Former CHP Sergeant and Assemblyman, Tom Lackey has received the endorsement of Lancaster Mayor Rex Parris.
A Lancaster native, Parris was first elected to the position of Mayor in 2008, and has since been reelected in 2010 and 2012. With a focus on the health and wellbeing of those he represents, Parris has worked with local public safety leaders and spearheaded efforts responsible for decreasing crime in the City of Lancaster by 40%.
When asked about his endorsement, Parris said, “Like me, Tom has spent a lifetime in this community and does not back down when it comes to the safety and success of our residents. He is a humble leader who has demonstrated a willingness to work with those in the region and fight for us in Sacramento.”
For nearly 30 years, Lackey helped to keep the region’s streets and neighborhoods safe, working in the areas of Los Angeles, El Cajon, Baldwin Park and the Antelope Valley, and retiring as a Sergeant in 2014. During this time, he also worked as a member of the Antelope Valley Crime Task Force.
Although Lackey spent a better part of three decades helping to protect the residents of Los Angeles County, his dedication to service goes beyond his time in uniform. Lackey started his career as a special education teacher, is a supporter of the Special Olympics Southern California, and also served three terms on the Palmdale City Council, where he ensured tax dollars were used in an efficient manner and city policies helped to attract and retain local jobs.
Throughout his career, it is Lackey’s commitment to service and selfless leadership style that has earned the respect and support of those around him. In addition to the endorsement of Parris, Lancaster Vice Mayor Marvin Crist and City Councilmembers Ken Mann, Angela Underwood, and Raj Malhi are also supporting Lackey’s campaign for reelection.
Tom Lackey is seeking re-election to California’s 36th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Lancaster, Palmdale, Rosamond, Mojave and California City.
