Palmdale, CA — The Police Officers Research Association of California, the largest law enforcement organization in California, representing over 75,000 active and retired police officers throughout the state, has endorsed Republican Tom Lackey for re-election to the 34th Assembly District.
“It is absolutely essential that our law enforcement officers have a voice in Sacramento” Lackey commented in response to the endorsement. “There are only a few of us in Sacramento who have actually served on the frontlines and wore the badge. I bring my 28-years of experience as a law enforcement officer to Sacramento each and every day to fight for public safety and our law enforcement officers. I am honored to have the support of PORAC and look forward to continuing to work with them in my next term.”
Lackey served for 28 years in the California Highway Patrol, retiring as a Sergeant, making him the only member of the Assembly Republican Caucus with law enforcement experience. As Vice Chair of the Assembly Public Safety Committee, Lackey has been an outspoken advocate for law enforcement and a leading voice in Sacramento on issues of crime and safety.
PORAC joins a growing coalition of public safety organizations supporting Assemblyman Lackey, including the California Professional Firefighters, California Association of Highway Patrolmen, the California Correctional Peace Officers Association, and Crime Victims United.
Lackey has served in the Assembly since 2014, has two children, and lives with his wife Linda in Palmdale. He is running for re-election in Assembly District 34, which includes portions of high desert communities in San Bernardino County, South East Kern County, and Northern Los Angeles County.
