Palmdale, CA — The California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP), representing thousands of active and retired Highway Patrol officers throughout the state, have announced their endorsement of Republican Tom Lackey for re-election to the 34th Assembly District.
“The CAHP are sincerely appreciative of having the opportunity to work with Assemblyman Lackey on issues affecting the safety of our families and California Highway Patrol officers,” said CAHP President, Rick A. Labeske. “Tom’s lifelong career on the California Highway Patrol gives him a unique perspective on law enforcement matters. He has significantly improved the safety of the public over the last seven years of serving in the legislature.”
Lackey served for 28 years in the California Highway Patrol, retiring as a Sergeant, making him the only member of the Assembly Republican Caucus with law enforcement experience. As Vice Chair of the Assembly Public Safety Committee, Lackey has been an outspoken advocate for law enforcement and a leading voice in Sacramento on issues of crime and safety.
The CAHP endorsement adds to the growing list of support from the law enforcement community, with Lackey previously receiving Legislator of the Year awards from the California Police Chiefs Association and Crime Victims United.
Lackey has served in the Assembly since 2014, has two children, and lives with his wife Linda in Palmdale. He is running for re-election in Assembly District 34, which includes portions of high desert communities in San Bernardino County, South East Kern County, and Northern Los Angeles County.
