Palmdale Mayor, Councilmembers Endorse Lackey for Assembly
PALMDALE – Tom Lackey gained the endorsement of Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford, and Councilmembers Laura Bettencourt and Mike Dispenza in his race against Steve Fox in the 36th Assembly District.
Lackey currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Palmdale.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Tom since he was first elected in 2005. We have worked collaboratively on many issues during that time and he has proven himself to be a trusted colleague who knows how get things done,” said Mayor Jim Ledford.
Mayor Ledford is currently serving his eleventh term as Palmdale Mayor after being first elected in 1992. Bettencourt and Dispenza are serving their first and fourth terms respectively.
“Tom has shown time and again that he is a man of integrity who could not be more dedicated to the community,” said Councilmember Dispenza. “I know that if elected to the Assembly, he will carry our values to Sacramento and work to bring jobs back to the Antelope Valley.”
“I am humbled by the support of my colleagues from the City of Palmdale,” said Lackey of the endorsements. “Their support will greatly help me spread my message of reducing our community’s double-digit unemployment rate and reversing the state’s flawed public safety policies.”
Lackey also serves as a delegate for Palmdale to California State Prison – Los Angeles County Citizens Advisory Committee, and recently retired as a Sergeant in the California Highway Patrol after 28 years of service.
He is running to replace Assemblyman Steve Fox in what will be one of the most closely monitored legislative races in California.
