Latino Leaders Endorse Lackey for Assembly
PALMDALE – Tom Lackey has added the endorsements of key Latino community leaders in his race to unseat Steve Fox in the 36th Assembly District.
Lackey received the endorsement of Lancaster Councilmember Sandra Johnson, Former Palmdale Water Board Member Raul Figueroa, Antelope Valley Hispanic Chamber President Isaac Barcelona, and business owners Caroline Rodriguez, Lou Gonzales and Gus Camacho.
“Our community could not ask for a better representative in Sacramento than Tom,” said Lou Gonzales. “Having spent his life here in the Antelope Valley and serving his community in so many ways, he knows the true priorities we need represented in the State Capitol. With his background as a Governing Board Member of Palmdale School District, he will also bring valuable insight to improving our schools.”
“I know that if elected, Tom would serve all of the Antelope Valley and work to lower our double-digit unemployment rate that has devastated families and increased poverty,” said AV Hispanic Chamber President Barcelona. “California has serious business climate issues, and until we make our state more competitive, communities like ours will continue to suffer.”
Lackey currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem of Palmdale where he was first elected in 2005. He recently retired as a Sergeant in the California Highway Patrol where has worked since 1985.
He is running to replace Assemblyman Steve Fox in what will be one of the most closely monitored legislative races in California.
